MacIntosh began in 1919, when W. Bruce MacIntosh Sr. founded Mary MacIntosh, a retail laundry operation in Allentown, PA. The company expanded via acquisitions and operated numerous laundries and dry cleaning facilities in Pennsylvania and Florida. During the mid-1960s, the retail business experienced a downturn and the company ventured into the garment and linen rental business. In 1976, the company sold its plants in Florida and consolidated the Pennsylvania operations. In 1989, James J. Rodgers Sr. assumed the position of president and chief executive officer and in 1994 purchased the company from the MacIntosh family. The name of the company changed from Mary MacIntosh to MacIntosh Linen and Uniform Services to better distinguish the current services provided. The company's main facility is located in Bethlehem, and it runs more than 37 routes serving over 3,500 customers. Exploding changes in technology affect every aspect of a textile rental company's business. MacIntosh continues to invest resources toward new technologies and profits from tremendous opportunities to streamline operations, increase efficiency and improve personalized service to better serve you as our customer. |
